Every wedding I capture is such a huge honor! It means so much to me that I have the opportunity to capture couples’ happiest moments on their wedding day! However, when I have the chance to photograph someone I love, it means that much more! I had the joy of capturing my little sister, Alissa, and her groom, Ross’s, romantic vintage Christmas wedding in Jasper Texas. Their wedding was absolutely stunning and a dream to photograph.
Romantic Vintage Christmas Wedding
Getting married close to Christmas is a magical experience. Weddings and the Christmas season are magical on their own, but when you combine the two, it is something truly special. The warm twinkle of lights, the classic combination of red and white with a sprinkling of evergreen, everything was perfectly decorated for a whimsical, vintage, elegant Christmas wedding.
Their wedding took place in Jasper County Bell-Field Airport. This location holds a special place in their hearts, as Ross is a pilot and owns an airport in Jasper Texas. They also shared their first date at sunset in an airplane flying over Sam Rayburn Lake. Needless to say, airplanes play an important role in their lives and I love that they honored that on their wedding day! I also loved that there were planes in the background of some images and even used as props, such as the airplane that was used as a part of their altarpiece at the ceremony.
While an airport might not be a traditional place to hold a wedding, let me tell you it was GORGEOUS. The space was completely transformed with elaborate and antique Christmas decorations. Twinkling lights decorated the spaces adding a romantic and festive ambiance. Tons of trees decorated with special ornaments filled the main airplane hangar where the ceremony was held. Everything from the antique furniture to the hot chocolate bar was carefully and thoughtfully planned. My mom did a wonderful job bringing the vision for their wedding day to life as she has an eye for design!

Alissa wore her hair down in waves with a very 1930s glam look. She also incorporated a pop of color with red heels! Her bridal bouquet was a beautiful arrangement of red and white roses with sprigs of greenery. Before the ceremony, Alissa and Ross shared a first look on the air strip at the end of the runway. Their genuine, emotional reactions were so sweet. Even though it was wintertime, the sun felt warm as it shined down on these two during their wedding portraits.
Their adorable dog, Griffin, also joined in on the wedding fun and posed adorably in a few wedding photos and completely nailed his job as a ring bearer! As the couple exchanged their rings and vows and became husband and wife the atmosphere couldn’t have been more joyful! The happiness and energy was contagious!
An Epic Wedding Exit
The newlyweds, along with their family and friends, celebrated into the evening, enjoying the music of JPL Entertainment and the warm, romantic atmosphere. To end the evening, a grand send off was orchestrated using custom-made paper airplanes. Alissa and Ross exited the reception wearing their matching, vintage-style aviator leather jackets. Then, instead of getting in a getaway car, these two climbed inside one of their newly painted airplanes and took off for their honeymoon! It was an epic send off and wedding exit! Their romantic vintage Christmas wedding was such a special evening that included countless moments of laughter, tears, and memories I will never forget. I am so incredibly happy for my sister and her husband and witnessing their special day was the icing on the cake!
This post is in tribute not only to my wonderful family, but to Jeff Landry of JPL Entertainment who passed way shortly after this wedding. A good family man who served his clients and friends with nothing but love and deep care.
