Top 5 Greenville South Carolina Portrait Session locations by SC portrait Photographer Sarah Claire Portraiture

Finding the perfect location for your portrait session can be hard, especially when you live in a place like Greenville, South Carolina where there is so much to offer in terms of gorgeous, picture worthy spots. From busy city streets, to natural mountain sceneries, to timeless, elegant, and historic buildings, there is something for everyone! These are my top 5 Greenville, SC portrait session locations, many of which are fan favorites!

I always encourage my clients to select a location that has meaning to them, but if you just aren’t sure where to go, these are some of my top picks. Whether you pick the location or I do, I will make sure every session is unique and personalized to reflect your individual personality and style.

01. Downtown Greenville

First on my list of top 5 Greenville, SC portrait session locations is Downtown Greenville.  Fall Park on The Reedy is beautiful in every season and has lots of small pockets of perfection for session backdrops year round. The Sweeping views of the falls from Reedy Park suspension bridge are breathtaking, especially The Westin Poinsett, Greenville, and the views from the Fall Park car Bridge! Camperdown plaza ads a bit of extra pizzazz to your images with versatile portrait spots in one location. Not to mention the FOOD here carries such variety! This area has so much to offer AND looks stunning in every season!

02. Sassafras Mountain, Bald Rock, and The Blue Ridge Parkway

If you love the mountains and jaw dropping views, number two on the list is for you! Sassafras Mountain, Bald Rock, and The Blue Ridge Parkway are all gorgeous locations, especially during the fall!  The views of all of the mountains and colorful trees adorning the horizon is epic. The views here are one of a kind and are sure to provide a stunning backdrop for both engagement sessions and proposals! Plus something about that mountain air just makes you feel at home.

03. Furman University or Clemson University

Whether you are college grads, an alumni, or just want some beautiful couple or family pictures in the spring or autumn, THESE are the ultimate spots for upscale and timeless seasonal portraits. Furman University and Clemson University are both wonderful locations to capture your portrait session. The campus grounds are always meticulously maintained and provide both natural beauty and architectural charm. Both campuses shine in the different seasons from the vibrant foliage in the autumn to the blooming flowers in spring you will not be disappointed! These two universities are perfect for creating stunning and meaningful images.

04. Downtown Travelers Rest

Number four, on my list is Downtown Travelers Rest! This quaint little town is a stop on the way up to the mountains, in Travelers Rest, SC. Autumn is the perfect time to take pictures here in my personal opinion. The leaves change beautifully and are so full of stunning colors. Plus the vintage style green clock across the street from the restaurant Tandem (which has the best crepes) blends so well with all the warm hues of the trees surrounding it. This is the perfect Greenville, SC location for a mini session – hint! hint!

05. The South Carolina State House in Columbia SC

The South Carolina State House in Columbia, SC isn’t exactly in Greenville, and is a bit of a drive from Upstate SC, BUT it is worth it for the breathtaking photos! This historic and elegant location isn’t just a good spot for portrait sessions, but engagements and weddings are stunning here as well! I highly recommend getting a tour of the grounds and the inside! It makes for the perfect family day trip or couple date night!  I love the timelessness of this location, with the large columns, iconic steps, and grandeur of the building it is a beautiful spot!

Bonus Location: Your Home

Last but not least on my top 5 Greenville, SC portrait session locations is your home!! Yes, you read that right! Sometimes you don’t need to travel far! At home sessions are PERFECT for newborn sessions but also work well for engagement, family, and even extended family sessions! I love how intimate the images feel and the way it captures where the Lord has you in your life right now. Watching couples cozy up on their couch, or snuggle their newborn in the nursery is so special and adds an extra layer of meaning to the photos.

Each of these locations offers something slightly different, while still remaining beautiful and unique in their own way. There is a location to suit any style, personality, or preference. While there are many locations in Greenville, SC and the surrounding areas, these 5 locations are my absolute favorite. From historic landmarks to serene natural settings, these picturesque spots provide the perfect backdrop for capturing your special memories.
