Timeless Rice University Engagement

Capturing Hannah and Cal’s timeless Rice University engagement session was such a treat! When planning for this downtown Houston session, we did not anticipate the chilly weather. There was a big freeze that happened earlier in January that already caused us to reschedule once, but thankfully, while it was still cold we made it work and their pictures turned out beautifully. You would never know it was just 40 degrees! We explored the campus grounds and captured their stunning engagement portraits as we chatted.

Timeless Rice University Engagement Session

My husband, David, tagged along and saved the day with a heated car that was always right around the corner for us to jump in whenever we needed to warm up. Hannah and Cal ROCKED their session despite the weather! Their infectious smiles and positive attitudes were 100% there and gave me so much added energy and inspiration. Also, their outfits were perfection. Their two looks were both stylish and dressy which complemented the scenery wonderfully. I just loved all the stunning architecture of the buildings and the surrounding landscapes. It made for a timeless engagement setting location.

Their Love story

I loved getting to know Cal and Hannah. The couple fell in love in college while attending Stephen F. Austin State University, also known as SFA, (My alma mater as well Axe’em Jacks!). Cal was attending on scholarship as a baseball player on the SFA Baseball team and Hannah, a financial advisor, was loved by the girls in her sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha. Their love story blossomed over the last three years when one of Hannah’s roommates knew Cal and introduced them. Hannah attended one of his games, after which they met up. They felt like they needed to get to know each other in a different environment. So they went out to dinner on their first official date the next day. These two lovebirds started seeing each other during the spring of 2022 and haven’t looked back since.

It was also such an honor to photograph their engagement session, especially having known Cal from church growing up. I also captured his graduation pictures when he graduated high school back in 2019! To view his session on my portfolio, click HERE. I was in touch with his family leading up to the proposal that I was sadly unable to shoot. However, my heart was singing when they inquired about their very own SCP Wedding experience! We had such a lovely conversation before they decided to book me as their official documenter of this momentous season.
