Tyler State Park Family Session

One of the most rewarding parts of being a photographer is not just capturing fleeting moments but building lasting relationships. The Curtis Family is a perfect example of this. This was my second year in a row photographing them and my third time having them in front of my camera. Our journey together began with their daughter’s wedding—Meredith and Jacob’s beautiful celebration in Houston, TX, last year. View their gorgeous wedding day here! From wedding memories to annual family portraits, I have had the joy of preserving their legacy, and their recent Tyler State Park family session was another memorable, fun session.

On a cool yet comfortable afternoon in Tyler, Texas, we met at the stunning Tyler State Park. The backdrop was nothing short of amazing—beautiful trees, calm waters, and golden-hour light that created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. What made this session even more special was the timing. The Curtis family was in town for the same wedding I was photographing that weekend—Hannah and Joey’s big day. Since we were all together, we seized the perfect opportunity to capture updated family portraits before the rehearsal dinner that evening.

Sessions like these remind me why I love what I do. These encounters and returning clients are precisely what bring me so much joy as a photographer. When families return to me year after year, it becomes more than just a job or a photoshoot—it turns into a reunion, a time to catch up, laugh, and create something meaningful together. It’s a privilege to be trusted beyond that first booking, to become the photographer a family turns to for milestone after milestone.
